Product update - Enhancements to Payments
October 27, 2024
New update simplifies how rent is paid, tracked, and understood. Saving time and giving landlords greater control.
LONDON – 27th October 2024 – August, the all-in-one app for small landlords, today rolled out a major upgrade to its payments experience, designed to give both landlords and tenants more visibility, flexibility, and control over how rent is managed.
This update introduces a suite of new tools that make it easier to track payments, assign them correctly, accept multiple payment types, and streamline the tenant experience with in-app rent payments.
Problem
Rent collection and tracking are time-consuming and error-prone for landlords, while tenants often lack clarity on what’s due, when, and how to pay.
Solution
August’s latest release introduces smarter payment workflows, including manual assignment, in-app payments, and better visibility, removing ambiguity and reducing the back-and-forth for everyone involved.
Key Features
Payment snapshots: Instantly view a monthly income summary or tap for full payment details. (Requires bank connection)
Manual assignment: Auto-matching still works but now you can assign rent payments manually too.
Smarter search: Filter payments by date, property, or status to find what you need, fast.
Backdated payments: Add payments from up to two years ago with automatic backdating.
In-App rent payments: Tenants can tap ‘Pay’ directly in the app when rent is due. (Requires identity verification)
Cash payments: Support for manually adding cash payments, no more offline gaps.
“Payments are the heartbeat of the landlord-tenant relationship,” said Sam Cope, Founder of August. “This update removes friction and gives our users more control, whether they’re managing one property or a portfolio. It’s everything rent should be clear, simple, and stress-free.”
