Can tenants see my phone number?

No. When you message a tenant through August, it goes via the app rather than from your personal handset, so your mobile number is never shared. Tenants who use the free tenant app see your messages in the app, and tenants who aren't on it receive your message by email or SMS, still without your number attached. It works the other way too: you can talk to a tenant without giving out your own details, and turn off messaging entirely if you'd rather not be contactable. It's a cleaner boundary than texting from your own phone, which is exactly why a lot of landlords switch.
