How to add a new tenant?

There are two ways to add a tenant in August:

Option 1: Add a tenant to an existing tenancy

Open your property and go to the Tenancies tab. Find the tenancy you want to add a tenant to, then tap "Add tenant" at the bottom of the tenancy card. Enter the tenant's details and save.

Option 2: Add a tenant when creating a new tenancy

From your property page, tap "Add new tenancy" at the top. Fill in the tenancy details like rental amount, start date, and payment day. You'll be prompted to add tenant information as part of the setup process. Enter the tenant's details and complete the tenancy creation.

What information do I need?

You'll need the tenant's name and email address. Phone number and other contact details are optional but helpful for keeping your records organized.

Can I add multiple tenants to one tenancy?

No, for now August supports adding only one tenant per tenancy. If you want to add another tenant in the property you need to create a new tenancy agreement.

Do my tenants need to download the app?

No, tenants don't need the app unless you choose to invite them. You can add their details for your own records without giving them access. If you want them to receive rent reminders and submit maintenance requests, you can invite them by enabling "Invite tenant" when adding their details.
