August launches dedicated compliance journey for Scottish landlords

LONDON – 25 September 2026 – August, the property management app for self-managing UK landlords, today launched a dedicated compliance journey for landlords in Scotland. The new journey gives Scottish properties their own guided checklist, built from the ground up for the Private Residential Tenancy regime rather than adapted from England and Wales rules, and is included on every August plan, including Free.

The problem

Scotland has its own landlord law. Registration, deposits, repairs and notice periods all work differently from England and Wales, yet most landlord software treats "UK compliance" as a single checklist. Scottish landlords are left either following the wrong rules or tracking the right ones in a spreadsheet.

The solution

August's Scottish compliance journey breaks the obligations into 46 plain-English tasks across landlord, property and tenancy level, each with step-by-step guidance, links to official sources and automatic reminders before anything expires. It covers:

• Registration on the Scottish Landlord Register and three-yearly renewal

• Meeting the Repairing Standard, including gas, electrical and interlinked alarm requirements

• Lodging deposits with an approved scheme within 30 working days

• Serving the correct Notice to Leave periods under a Private Residential Tenancy

• Upcoming changes to Scottish rental law, so landlords are told what is coming into force and when

August applies the right journey automatically based on the property's address, so landlords with properties on both sides of the border see the correct checklist for each one.
