August shortlisted for Emerging PropTech of the Year

LONDON – 29th October 2026 – August, the property management platform for UK landlords, has been shortlisted for Emerging PropTech of the Year at the UK PropTech Awards 2026. August is one of twelve companies on the shortlist for the category, which is sponsored by REACH UK. It has also been shortlisted for the Business Transformation Award. The winners will be announced on 26th November 2026 at The Building Centre in London.
What are the UK PropTech Awards?
The UK PropTech Awards are run by the UK PropTech Association and are now in their ninth year. They celebrate the organisations, technologies and people changing how property is designed, developed, managed and lived in. This year's awards drew more than 200 applications, and the ceremony moves to a new home at The Building Centre, supported by The Built Environment Trust.
Emerging PropTech of the Year recognises the most promising early-stage PropTech company in the built environment. The judges look for young companies bringing fresh thinking to property, shown through early customer adoption, pilot projects and industry recognition.
Why was August shortlisted?
August set out to give self-managing landlords one place to run their lettings, in place of a patchwork of spreadsheets, banking apps, email folders and calendar reminders. Most landlords do the job around a full-time career, and the rules they work under have changed sharply in 2026, with the Renters' Rights Act 2025 coming into force on 1st May and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax arriving in April.
More than 3,000 landlords and tenants now use August on web, iOS and Android. Landlords see rent arrive through open banking rent tracking, keep every certificate and safety check current with the compliance checklist, and send their quarterly updates to HMRC from the records they already keep. August was recognised by HMRC as Making Tax Digital software, as set out on the Making Tax Digital feature page. Tenants can report repairs through maintenance, talk to their landlord through in-app messaging and pay rent in August.
The pace of development has been a big part of the story. In 2026 August added a Xero integration, a mileage tracker that applies HMRC rates, Workspaces for multi-user access with roles and permissions, and a compliance journey for landlords in Scotland. In October it released version 3.0.0 of its web platform, a complete redesign that adds rent arrears tracking across the portfolio, automated rent chasing by email and SMS, and the August AI Assistant. Every release is published openly on the web releases page.
A year of recognition
The shortlisting adds to a strong year for August. It won Real Estate Mobile App of the Year at the PropTech Breakthrough Awards 2026 and was named a finalist in three categories at the Property Week Tech Innovation Awards 2026. It was named a finalist at The Negotiator Awards for the second year running, and shortlisted in two categories at the National LIS Property Service Awards 2026. "Emerging PropTech of the Year is exactly the company we want to be," said Richard Samuel, Chief Executive of August. "We're a small team, and almost everything we ship starts with a landlord telling us where their week goes. To be shortlisted by the UK PropTech Association, alongside some of the most exciting young companies in property, tells us that approach is working. Our thanks go to the judges, and to the landlords who keep pushing us to build better."
